Graphic Leftovers

Our website redesign is a minimalistic approach to microstock photography marketplaces showing a subtle but elegant design which emphasizes and showcases our artists’ work. Though it looks simple at first glance, we thoughtfully chose to include lots of whitespace to attract our customers’ eyes to our products instead distracting them with our website design. It took about 3 months to design, build, tweak, polish, and perfect. The site was built from scratch using a PHP framework called CodeIgniter. There are a lot of other tools as well that make the site faster and easier to use, such as sphinx for search.

Jimmy Melrose – Boy Phoenix

One Pager website about ‘Boy Phoenix’. A book by author Helen Blake, which places Jimmy Melrose where he belongs: as a national symbol of those adventurous days in the air. The site and book is a tribute to a young and debonair Australian aviation pioneer: one who strove to bring air travel to the public eye – locally and globally. Jimmy Melrose and his peers dared to believe we could all fly.

Rapid design and development. but we don’t give less. handcoded. 1 pager – has flash slideshows and flash video. links to a blog and paypal to purchase the book, has a PDF sample download too.

Narwhal Co.

Narwhal Co. products originate from gently used vintage neckties, which are recycled into handmade, one-of-a-kind accessories.

A bold pattern combined with a subtle palette, emphasis on typography and custom icons create a refined and unique site experience to emphasize the one-of-a-kind recycled tie accessories.

The site itself is re-designed. Many elements from the original site were kept and refined, while a new layout grid and more sophisticated palette help define the brand.

A custom Foxycart implementation allows for a stylized shopping experience to fit seamlessly into the site concept and design. It also allows me to focus on the design and not worry about credit card processing, PCI compliance, and all that not-so-fun stuff.

The site is built using a custom framework with PHP and MySQL.

jQuery is used for several custom animations and page effects. A custom AJAX product locking system ensures that the same item can’t be in two people’s carts.

The header and footer are elastic to create strong horizontal lines throughout the site. The main content of the site uses the 960.gs grid system.

The redesign took about a week. The product photography, coding and testing took about two.

Archer was chosen as the typeface. The orginal site used Clarendon extensively, and I wanted to keep in the slab serif family. Archer fit perfectly with its subtle touches and readability.

All in all, one of my favorites I’ve done.

Toshiedo

The Toshiedo website is a showcase of Toshiedo’s online marketing portfolio and services. The site is designed in CSS and has a tableless layout. The site also conforms to W3C standards. The color palette uses a lot of white, black and red. And there’s a lot of interesting Flash elements throughout the site.

EHRtv

EHRtv was coded in XHTML,CSS2, and PHP5 for WordPress (2.8.6). It took approximately a month and a half to complete the project and one week to design the layout. The design uses a light on dark color scheme, which has been thoroughly tested in all major browsers. JQuery was used for the featured carousel, slider, and tabs. We utilized WordPress’ custom fields to display various metadata such as video transcripts, summaries and resources.

Each category represents a channel where videos are showcased. Archive and search functionality has been added to easily navigate throughout the site. In addition, the site enables viewers to read information from our social feeds, FriendFeed and EHRScope blog, and enables them to subscribe to RSS feeds.

Summary of EHRtv: EHRtv is a comprehensive video analysis of the EHR industry. This 100% customized wordpress blog educates people on health information technology (HIT). EHRtv is the only service to provide interviews with industry executives, cutting edge news and reviews about EHRs in one central location.
